Interlibrary Loan Guidelines
Pelletier Library participates in programs of borrowing materials from other libraries and of lending our materials to other libraries. Interlibrary cooperation is essential because no library can provide all of the countless materials faculty and students need for their research and other academic projects. Interlibrary loan works as long as everyone cooperates with the guidelines, most of which are part of the Pennsylvania Interlibrary Loan Code.
The PA Code states the following:
"Interlibrary loan is a privilege, not a right. Each library is responsible for maintaining the provisions of this Code in good faith. Continued disregard of any provision of this Code is sufficient reason for suspension of borrowing privileges after prior warning." Pennsylvania also has rather strict laws concerning the theft of books and other library materials. Not returning books borrowed from another institution is covered by this law.
