Assistant Professor Emeritus Jan Hyatt and Assistant Professor Eleanor Weisman, both from Dance Studies, presented at the Congress on Research in Dance (CORD) international conference on Dance and Human Rights in Montreal on November 11, 2005. The workshop, “Women in Black, an Evolving Movement Vigil,” described the Meadville Women in Black weekly gatherings at the Diamond and their relationship to the international anti-violence movement. Using the structured improvisational choreography from the Spring 2005 Allegheny Dance Studies Concert piece Women in Black, Weisman and Hyatt guided conference attendees in a unique movement experience of their own. The written reflection on the process will be published in the conference proceedings.
