MEADVILLE, Pa. – April 14, 2009 – Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper will discuss America's challenges and emerging energy policy during a public event titled, “Focus the Future: Energy, Economy, Environment,” at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 in Ford Chapel on the campus of Allegheny College.
“Focus the Future: Energy, Economy, Environment” will involve leaders from business, higher education and government in a conversation about policy and solutions on the local, state and federal levels. It is part of a national event, Focus the Nation 2009, which is intended to bring citizens in hundreds of congressional districts across America together for a day of education and dialogue on America's energy challenges and how best to address them.
Sharon Pillar, global warming outreach coordinator for Penn Future, and Jason Amory, Meadville city council member, will join Rep. Dahlkemper in the conversation. Pillar brings information about the science of global warming and the specific impacts that will be evident in Pennsylvania. Jason's professional experience is in the home energy efficiency sector.
“While there are serious discussions of investment in green jobs and transitioning to a clean, equitable energy economy in Washington,” said Kelly Boulton, sustainability coordinator at Allegheny College, “this local event offers a valuable opportunity for citizens to ask questions, voice concerns and make sure local interests are represented at the national level.”
This event is open to the public and requires no reservation. For more information, contact Kelly Boulton at kboulton@allegheny.edu or (814) 332-2862.
