Fantastic Fjords
Nature at its most exquisite - mountains, waterfalls, glaciers.
Transportation in its many varieties - ferries, trains, even Viking ships.
Towns in their picturesque uniqueness - coastal fishing villages, Hanseatic Bergen, fjordside settlements.
Food for culinary cravings - magnificent buffets, fresh fish, exquisite open-face sandwiches.
Please join your fellow alumni to enjoy all of these delights. Departing the United States on Thursday, September 9, and returning on Monday, September 20, this tour to Norway has been designed by Judy Berges '63 - who conducted her first Allegheny alumni tour in 1977 - and is available only through Berges Tours. The tour is also open to family and friends of alumni.
The tour will include many places not on the usual tourist itineraries. There will be many ferry crossings, the fantastic Flam to Myrdal train trip, an excursion to the Briskdal Glacier, a visit to a Stave church, a drive on the beautiful Atlantic Ocean Road, a journey to the remote fishing village of Bud, a drive on the Eagle Road, a visit to a pewter factory, and the enjoyment of being in a fjordview room facing the Hardanger Fjord, as well as the opportunity to walk behind the Steindsdal Waterfall.
To obtain a brochure, contact the College's alumni office: 814-332-5384. For specific questions about the tour, contact Berges at JudyTours@aol.com or 716-731-4259 (fax: 716-731-2974). If Berges is in the States, she will respond quickly - or promptly upon her return.
The total tour cost, including air travel from Pittsburgh or Buffalo, is $3,600 per person, based on two per room. Air travel can be arranged from other cities, and the price will be adjusted accordingly. In addition to using excellent hotels, the tour includes three meals per day and all sightseeing and admission costs, as well as all transfers and taxes. Your only extras are items of a personal nature.
Final payments must be made no later than June 15, 2004.
