The Skattum Challenge
A Family Affair
For the Skattums, Allegheny is synonymous with family. Four decades of Skattums have attended the College. "All of the members of our family who attended Allegheny are very different people with very different life goals and very different experiences," says College trustee Dag Skattum '84, "yet Allegheny managed to foster a sense of belonging and community that made it a special place for all of us."
Dag and his wife, Julie Grosjean Skattum '85, have made a $1 million commitment to the College's Annual Fund that not only will help Allegheny but will also allow alumni, parents, and friends of the College to double or even triple their donations to the Annual Fund.
Here's How It Works
For alumni whose class years are from 1988 through 2002:
If you didn't make a gift to the Annual Fund last year, the
Skattums will match this year's contribution 2-to-1.
Example: Give $100, and the Skattums will give $200.
If you made a contribution last year, the Skattums will match
any increase over last year's gift 2-to-1.
Example: If you gave $100 last year and $175 this year, the Skattums will give
$150.
For parents, friends, and alumni whose class years are prior to 1988:
The Skattums will match your gift 1-to-1 if you're a new contributor to the Annual Fund.
If you made a contribution last year, the Skattums will match any increase over last year's gift.
Multi-year pledges and matching gifts apply to the Challenge as wellplease contact Tim Brady '92, director of annual giving, for more details: 1-866-332-3853 (toll-free); tbrady@allegheny.edu.

"We both feel very fortunate to have had wonderful experiences at Allegheny, and we received extraordinary educations there. With so many of our family members attending Allegheny and the financial support several of us received to help pay for college, it just feels right to give something back."
