Inauguration Information for Allegheny College Employees

Faculty, Staff, Emeriti and Retirees

INSTALLATION CEREMONY
The installation ceremony will be Friday, October 17 from 4:10 to 5:30 p.m. in Shafer Auditorium. The ceremony is open to the public and all are invited to attend. Guests are asked to be seated by 4:00 p.m.

PROCESSIONAL
Faculty, staff and administrators are encouraged to march in the academic procession at the installation ceremony. Please report to Brooks Hall main lounges by 3:30 p.m. for robing. If the weather permits, we will line up for the processional on Brooks Walk, just outside the main entrance to Brooks Hall. If weather prohibits an outdoor processional, we will meet in the Main Street area of the Campus Center second floor. Please note that academic regalia is encouraged but not required for those marching in the academic procession.

INTERNATIONAL FLAG CEREMONY
The procession will include international flags representing the diverse flavor of our college family. Faculty, administrator and staff whose country of origin is not the United States are invited to participate in this ceremony by carrying the flag of their native country. PRESIDENT'S RECEPTION
Following the installation ceremony, the President's Reception will be held in the Campus Center lobby and balcony areas. We hope this reception will provide everyone with the opportunity to celebrate this momentous occasion at Allegheny College.

DINNER AND DANCE
Faculty, staff and administrators are invited to attend and bring a guest to a dinner and dance on Friday evening in the Wise Center Sports Forum (adults only please). A reception will be held from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m., followed by dinner from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. and dancing until midnight. The Dave Stevens Big Band's 21-piece orchestra, including Allegheny's own Joe Miller and Ron Stitt, will play. Semi-formal dress is appropriate. This is not a black-tie event and formal dress is not required.

TICKETS
Tickets will be required to the dinner and dance. Tickets are available at no cost and can be requested online by visiting http://www.allegheny.edu/forms/567. Tickets must be requested by Friday, September 19, and will be distributed by campus mail.

VOLUNTEERS
Many volunteers will be needed throughout the day on Friday to assist with Inauguration activities. If you are interested in assisting, please register at http://www.allegheny.edu/forms/565 by October 3.

CHILD CARE
Meadville Children's Center will provide child care at its facilities at the Odd Fellows Home, 400 North Main Street, during the Inauguration Ceremony on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. To take advantage of this free service, faculty, staff and administrators in need of child care during the Inauguration ceremony must sign up by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14th by filling out the form at http://www.allegheny.edu/forms/513 or by calling our office at 332-3101. Parents of children not currently enrolled at MCC should plan to arrive early at the MCC to allow time to fill out and sign emergency contact forms.
