Gators Earn Top National Finish in Program History

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Allegheny women's golf team shot 333 on the fourth and final day of the Division III National Championship en route to finishing in ninth place out of the 20 teams competing at Centennial Oaks Golf Club.

The Gators finished 11th out of 20 teams last year and ninth out of 10 teams in 2006 - the program’s inaugural season. Allegheny began the day in a tie for sixth place and finished a mere eight strokes back of the top five.

Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), pictured right, shot 81 on the final day of competition and finished tied for 16th place after averaging 78.25 for the championship.

Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) turned in a score of 76 for the second consecutive day to lead the Gators in round four. Her four-round average of 81.25 put her in a tie for 43rd place overall.

Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) tied for 46th place following her final-day score of 83 while Laura Burkholder (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) rounded out the scoring for the Gators with an 83 - her best round of the week.

Julia Wears (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) was fifth for Allegheny on day four with an 89 and finished in a tie for 73rd place overall.
