Abby Bodenlos and Rachel Ryan Named NFCA All-Region

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Allegheny College senior second baseman Abby Bodenlos (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and junior shortstop Rachel Ryan (West Salem, Ohio/Northwest) were named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region team announced by the NFCA on Friday.

Bodenlos, who earned her second straight NCAC Player of the Year award in 2008, batted .405 with four homers and 14 RBI for the Gators. She also stole 22-of-24 bases and hit 11 doubles while earning First Team All-Region status for a second consecutive season.

Ryan, a two-time third-team selection in 2005 and 2006, earned second-team honors following a season in which she batted .449 with two homers, 33 RBI, and 12 doubles. Ryan (pictured right) was also named a first-team All-NCAC selection for the second consecutive time this season.

The Gators finished the season at 24-15 and captured the 2008 NCAC regular season championship.
