Gators Continue to Move Up the Board at Nationals

WAVERLY, Iowa - For the second straight day at the Division III National Championship, the Allegheny women's golf team turned in one of the best team scores of the round. The Gators shot 309 on Thursday to move into to a tie for sixth place and are just a stroke away from cracking the top five.

Allegheny sits at +92 as does the University of St. Thomas. Illinois Wesleyan sits one stroke better at +91 while Otterbein is fourth at +88. Only 10-time defending National Champion Methodist (299) and Illinois Wesleyan (308) shot better than the Gators on day three.

Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) and Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) each shot four over par 76s to lead the Gators. Reints sits in sole possession of 14th place overall while Coleman (pictured right) moved up 10 spots to a tie for 28th place.

Julia Wears (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) bettered her score for the second straight day with a 77 while Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) matched her day two total of 80 to round of the scoring for Allegheny. Laura Burkholder (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) was fifth for Allegheny with an 85.

The Gators will look to wrap up the top national finish in the program's brief history tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
