Gators Jump to Eighth at Division III Nationals

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Allegheny women's golf team shot 316 on day two of the Division III Nationals at Centennial Oaks Golf Club. The score was the second best amongst the 20 teams competing and put the Gators in a tie for eighth place overall at the championship. Only first place and 10-time defending National Champion Methodist shot a better day two score (309) than the Gators.

Individually, Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) shot her second straight 78 to move into a six-way tie for 14th place overall. Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) and Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) bettered their day one scores by five and four strokes, respectively, to finish at 79 and 80 on day two.

Julia Wears (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) also came in at 79 to improve 10 strokes from her day one total and round out the scoring for the Gators. Laura Burkholder (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) was fifth for Allegheny with an 84 - one stroke better than her total from yesterday.

The Gators tee off round three at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow.
