Gators Finish Second at NCAC Championships

GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Allegheny men's golf team wrapped up the weekend at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships with scores of 308 and 300 to finish second out of the nine teams competing at the Granville Country Club. The Gators also finished in second place in the NCAC regular season standings behind first-place Ohio Wesleyan.

Christian Goetz (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown Area) was the top scorer for Allegheny after shooting +3, +6, and +4 over 54 holes of golf. His 225 strokes tied for fourth place overall in the 45-person field.

Kyle Jastromb (Kent, Ohio/Kent Roosevelt) also finished in the top 10 (ninth overall) for Allegheny with scores of 79, 77, and 73 while Chris Moore (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep), Mike Wolfe (Erie, Pa./McDowell), and Kevin Day (Zelienopole, Pa./Seneca Valley) finished 13th, tied for 18th, and 26th, respectively.

After nine rounds of golf in 2007-08, Ohio Wesleyan (2,669 strokes) captured the league crown and automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Nationals. Allegheny finished at 2,714 for the season while Denison (2,796), Wittenberg (2,812), and Wooster (2,820) rounded out the top five.
