Gator Men Finish Second at NCACs
May 2, 2008 COMPLETE RESULTS
DELAWARE, Ohio - A streak of six consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor titles came to an end on Friday as the Allegheny men's track and field team finished second out of 10 teams competing at the championships.
Ohio Wesleyan brought home the team title with 236 points while Allegheny (150), Wabash (148.50), Oberlin (74), and Wooster (59) rounded out the top five.
Matt Smith (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville), pictured right, captured an individual title in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:38.63 while Ryan Place (Meshoppen, Pa./Elk Lake) picked up the conference crown in the 1500m run (3:55.64).
Tony Dipre (Twinsburg, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) finished second in the 1500m (3:55.86) while Craig Ball (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) finished second in the 800m (1:56.90)
Matt Hoy (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) and Ryan Hanson (Presto, Pa./Chartiers Valley) went 2-3 in the 5000m with respective times of 15:30.13 and 15:39.05. Chas Moore-Seymore (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Francis) placed third in the 100m dash with a time of 11.57 while Joe McMahon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) came in third during the triple jump (13.70m).
The Gator 4x400 relay squad finished third with a time of 3:26.44
The Gators return to action at the North Central Last Chance Meet on May 15 and 16 in preparation for the 2008 Division III National Championships to be held on May 22-24 at Oshkosh, Wisc.
