Gators Women Split Squads on Saturday Apr 26, 2008 NCAC MULTI EVENTS | CMU RESULTS
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Allegheny women's track and field team sent most of the squad to Carnegie Mellon on Saturday while Emily Pfeufer (St. Marys, Pa./Elk County Catholic) and Liz Straus (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland) competed at the NCAC Combined Events Championship at Oberlin. At Oberlin, Pfeufer leads the heptathlon with a score of 2512. Also competing, Straus is in fifth place with a score of 2307. With a partial squad in competition at the Carnegie Mellon University Senior Meet, five Gators finished in third place in their respective events. Angela Dyer (McKeesport, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) was just off her season best time in the 400m completing the lap in 1:05.41. Stephanie Alberico (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson), pictured right, ran a career best time of 2:24.62, an NCAC qualifying mark, in the 800m while Laura Heltman (Mars, Pa./Mars) narrowly missed a conference qualifying time in the 400m hurdles with a sprint of 11.55. Sarah Sammel (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park) tied her second best height in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 3.20m while Claire LeMasters (Shadyside, Ohio/St. John Central) ran the steeple chase for the first time this season and finished in 12:56.38, good for third place in the event. The entire Gator squad is back together next week for the NCAC Championships in Delaware, Ohio on Thursday and Friday, May 1-2.
