Gators Fall in Non-Conference Action at John Carroll

Apr 24, 2008

BOX SCORE

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Allegheny baseball team (15-16) fell by a score of 14-5 in non-conference action at John Carroll (22-9) on Thursday afternoon.

Allegheny got on the board in the first when Zach Skowvron (Georgetown, Pa./South Side Beaver) singled home J.R. Hess (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic), who doubled earlier in the inning. The Blue Streaks took advantage of an error and a walk to tie the score in the first before Matt Young (State College, Pa./State College) put the Gators back on top with a two-run double in the second.

John Carroll came right back to tie things up in their half of the inning and proceeded to score in five consecutive innings including a five spot in the sixth.

Matt Dishong (Venetia, Pa./Ringgold) went the first three for Allegheny while falling to 1-1 on the year. Paul O'Donnell pitched six innings and allowed only one earned run to pick up the win for John Carroll.

The Gators (7-7 NCAC) wrap up conference action on Saturday, April 26 at Hiram. Allegheny took two from the Terriers earlier this month before rain caused the final two contests to be postponed. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
