Gators Fall at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Allegheny lacrosse team (4-7, 2-1 NCAC) fell by a score of 14-11 at Denison (3-7, 2-1 NCAC) on Sunday afternoon.

The Gators fell behind 7-1 at the 17:37 mark of the first half when Sara Langsam scored her only goal of the contest. Allegheny was able to cut into the lead and went into half trailing 10-5 as Ashley Hughes (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) scored with just :29 left in the period.

The teams traded goals for most of the second half before the Gators outscored the Big Red 3-0 from the 15:12 to 1:33 mark. Jensen Paterson (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School), Christina Zanic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair), and Laura Roch (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) all scored during the run, bringing the score to 13-11 in favor of Denison. However, the Big Red was able to score once more in the final minute to secure the 14-11 win.

Hughes (pictured right), Hoch, and Paterson each scored three times while Hughes recorded two ground balls and two draw controls. Quinn Simmons totaled seven points on five goals and two assists while also winning nine draw controls for the Big Red.

Lesley Stange (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) picked up seven saves in net while Amanda Wilson recorded eight in the win for Denison.

Allegheny returns to action on Tuesday, April 15 with a home contest against Wooster. Opening draw is set for 7:00 p.m.
