Gator Women Compete at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Allegheny women’s track and field team competed on day one of the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University on Friday. The Gators were one of 50 institutions from all divisions throughout the region that competed.
Emily Pfeufer (St. Marys, Pa./Elk County Catholic) and Liz Straus (Kirtland, Ohio/Kirtland) led the Gators in the heptathlon, as the duo finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100m hurdles with times of 16.40 and 16.46 – both season bests.
In the high jump, Pfeufer placed third with a height of 5-03.25 while Straus finished ninth (4-09.50). Pfeufer then finished sixth in the shot put portion of the heptathlon with a throw of 9.19m while Straus was eighth in the 200m dash (28.06).
Also for Allegheny, Katie Stancik (Russell, Ohio/Chagrin Falls), pictured right, turned in a career-best time in the 1500m run with a time of 4:51.72.
The remaining members of the Gator squad that did not compete will be at the Slippery Rock University Invite on Saturday.
