Allegheny Earns Road Win at Clarion

CLARION, Pa. - The Allegheny baseball team (6-13) earned a 12-3 victory over Division II Clarion University (7-14) on Wednesday afternoon.
The Gators scored at least once in seven of the nine innings while breaking out for five runs in the sixth.
Brian Schmidt (Utica, Pa./Franklin), pictured right, had a career-best four hits in six at-bats while driving in three runs and scoring four times. J.R. Hess (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) was 3-for-4 with three RBI while freshman Charlie Magovern (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) scored three runs.
David Strawser (Tipp City, Ohio/Tippecanoe) started on the mound and pitched five innings of one-hit baseball. James Fago (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) and Justin Abbott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) also tossed a scoreless inning apiece.
Allegheny gets back into NCAC action this weekend with a four-game series at Hiram. Doubleheader action on Saturday is set for noon (EST).
