Gators Swept by Kenyon in NCAC Action Apr 5, 2008 GAME ONE BOX SCORE | GAME TWO BOX SCORE
Game one went scoreless until the fourth inning when Andy Schleihauf (Connellsville, Ohio/Connellsville) put Allegheny ahead 1-0 with an RBI single. The Lords responded in the bottom of the frame when Tom Hardacker knocked in two runs with a double. The Gators quickly tied things up in the top of the fifth when Matt Young (State College, Pa./State College) singled in the second Allegheny run of the day. Kenyon then broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning in which four different batters drove in runs. J.R. Hess (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) pitched 4.2 innings and allowed six earned runs while suffering the loss for the Gators while Justin Abbott (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton La-Salle) tossed 1.1 innings in relief without surrendering a run. Left-hander Geoff Bollier went the distance for Kenyon without walking a batter and striking out one. In game two, the Gators got on the board twice in the first inning after RBI singles from Young and Alex Herrnberger (Eighty Four, Pa./Canon McMillan). Kenyon answered right back with two runs in both the first and second after five hits and an Allegheny error. The Lords then added single runs in the third and fifth. The Gators rallied to score two in the seventh as Herrnberger once again singled in a run, but two Allegheny runners were left on base as Kenyon held on for the 6-4 win. Pereslucha pitched the first five in a losing effort for the Gators while C.J. Knudsen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) tossed a perfect sixth in relief. Tom Boucher allowed four runs on 10 hits but struck out eight Gators over six innings to get the win. Brian Schmidt (Utica, Pa./Franklin) and Young, pictured above, each went 3-for-4 at the plate for Allegheny. Allegheny will look to rebound tomorrow in games three and four against the Lords. First-pitch is set for noon (EST).
