BOX SCORE

MEADVILLE, Pa. - The trio of Laura Hoch (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy), Meg Grossman (Lexington, Ky./The Sayre School), and Jensen Paterson (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) combined to score 12 goals to lead the Allegheny lacrosse team (3-5) to a 20-9 victory over Washington and Jefferson (1-3) on Wednesday.

Allegheny scored six straight goals to open the contest, two of which came from Hoch (pictured right) in the first minute and a half of the game. The Presidents got back in it briefly with two scores at 21:11 and 19:40, but the Gators answered right back with a 5-0 run ending in a Paterson goal with 11:34 left before the break. By half, the Allegheny advantage grew to 15-4 as the Blue and Gold outshot the Presidents 24-9.

Hoch, Grossman (pictured left), and Paterson each scored four times with Hoch adding a pair of assists. Ashley Hughes (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and Abby Silvester (Mentor, Ohio/Lake Catholic) tied for the team-lead with four draw controls while Silvester, Kaitlin Biondi (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster), and Erin Foster (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) each picked up two ground balls.

In net, Leslie Stange (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) needed only one save in picking up her third win of the year. Rachel Coons (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) also saw time for the Gators and picked up a save.

The Gators have the weekend off before returning to action on Thursday, April 10 at Fredonia State. Game-time is set for 4:30 p.m.
