Gators 7th at Western PA Championships

COMPLETE RESULTS

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Allegheny men's track and field team placed seventh out of 14 teams competing at the Western PA Championships hosted by Carnegie Mellon on Friday and Saturday. The Gators totaled 36 points as a team despite not competing in the throwing or relay events.

Host Carnegie Mellon (151), California University (114), Saint Francis (99), Indiana University (85), and Duquesne (73.50) went one through five.

Matt Yurky (Homer City, Pa./Homer City) turned in a fifth-place performance in the 110m hurdles (15.91), a seventh-place finish in the triple jump (42-01.25), and an eighth-place showing in the long jump (20-05.75).

Tony Dipre (Twinsburg, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) and Jakeb Zimmerman (Leechburg, Pa./The Kiski School) finished fourth and fifth in the 5000m run with respective times of 15:25.37 and 15:26.20 while Chris Marker (Arlington, Va./Yorkstown) placed 10th (15:52.48) in the event.

Chas Moore-Seymore (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Francis) finished sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.62 and eighth in the 200m run (22.98) while Craig Stamm (Washington, Pa./Washington) finished 10th in the 200m (23.08).

Garret Piispanen (Fruita, Colo./Fruita Monument) finished ninth in the 800m run in a time of 1:59.95 while the duo of Jeramie Parker (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and Matt Brush (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) placed seventh and eighth in the 1500m.

Three Gators finished in the top 10 in the 10,000m run including Ryan Hanson (Presto, Pa./Chartiers Valley), Tom Lee (Mt. Vernon, Ohio/Mt. Vernon), and Matt Lacombe (Highland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy), who went 4-6-9 with respective times of 32:55.3, 33:26.4, and 33:49.6.

Matt Smith (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) placed sixth in the 3000m steeplechase (10:09.66).

The Gators next compete at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, April 5.
