
Gator Women in First at McDaniel Invite

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - Fighting cold and windy conditions, the Allegheny women's golf team still managed to shoot an opening round 358 to lead day one of the McDaniel College Spring Invitational.
Allegheny sits seven strokes ahead of second place Nazareth (365) and eight strokes ahead of Division II Kutztown (366). New York University (378) and McDaniel (379) are currently fourth and fifth, respectively.
Senior Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) shot an opening-round 87 to lead the Gators while Julia Wears (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) and Jamie Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) each totaled 90. Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) and Laura Hilger (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) both finished at 91 to round out the scoring for Allegheny.
Coleman is currently in a tie for third overall in the field while Wears and Reints are tied for eighth.
Competing as an individual, Laura Burkholder (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) shot 95.
The Gators will look to capture their fifth team title of the season in the final round tomorrow. Tee-time is scheduled for 9:10 a.m.
