Gator Men Fall at Case Western Reserve

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Allegheny men's tennis team (9-3) suffered back-to-back losses for the first time all season, falling 5-4 at Case Western Reserve (9-1) on Wednesday.

The Gators were ahead 2-1 after doubles competition as Matt Winters (The Woodlands, Texas/Woodlands) and Nick Lieb (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) won 8-5 at the #2 position. Ben Hurtuk (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) and Eric Roginek (Fresh Meadows, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) followed with an 8-4 win at #3.

Allegheny then won two out of the first three singles matches as Matt Chiricosta (Avon Lake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) and Winters, pictured right, each won three-set matches at #2 and #3. However, the Gators were unable to pick up another win over the final three matches and fell 5-4.

The Gators get back into NCAC play on Saturday against Ohio Wesleyan. The match will be held indoors at the David V. Wise Center and is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
