Allegheny Women Victorious at Case

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Allegheny women's tennis team improved to 9-5 on the year with a 6-1 victory over Case Western Reserve (1-5) on Tuesday evening.

The Gators picked up wins in each of the first four singles matches and at the #6 position to go ahead 5-1. The match was then shortened with Allegheny claiming victory in the only recorded doubles match of the day.

In singles, Lauren Kristofco (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) opened with a come from behind 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 win at #1. Kristyn Paone (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) also rallied to win 2-6, 7-6, 10-8 at #2 as did Sara Longo (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) at #3, 4-6, 6-0, 12-10. Tamara Prairie (Springfield, Mass./Science & Technology) and Margaret Hodgkiss-Lilly (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) had a little easier time, each winning in straight sets in the #4 and #6 spots.

Prairie and Hodgkiss-Lilly, pictured above, then teamed up to earn an 8-2 victory at the #3 doubles position.

The Gators return to action on Saturday, March 29 against Ohio Wesleyan. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Meadville, Pa.
