Allegheny Ties for 14th at Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The Allegheny men’s golf team finished tied for 14th place out of 26 teams competing at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Classic on Sunday. The Gators shot 310 as a team, only four strokes off of their day two total, despite playing in the roughest weather conditions of the weekend.
Christian Goetz (Burgettstown, Pa./Burgettstown Area) and Kyle Jastromb (Kent, Ohio/Kent Roosevelt) each shot 75 to lead the Gator scorers. Mike Wolf (Erie, Pa./McDowell) finished three strokes back at 78 while Kevin Day (Zelienopole, Pa./Seneca Valley) and Billy Wisniewski (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) rounded out the top five with respective scores of 82 and 84.
Corey Shemelya (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) shot 84 while competing as an individual. Chris Moore (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Academy) also competed but did not finish the round because of injury.
Allegheny returns to the links on Sunday and Monday, April 6-7 for the Mid-Atlantic Regional.
