Gator Men Finish 4th at NCAC Relays

RESULTS

GRANVILLE, Ohio - Despite a limited number of competitors on Saturday, the Allegheny men's track and field team finished in a tie for fourth place at the North Coast Athletic Conference relay meet at Denison University. Junior Joe McMahon (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) led the Gators with a first-place finish in the triple jump (44-10.75) and a second-place effort in the long jump (20-03.50).

In addition to McMahon, freshman Daryl Overton (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Francis) finished sixth in the triple jump (41-03.75) and ninth in the long jump (18-11.25). He also captured fourth place in the shot put with a distance of 43-01.00.

The duo of Matt Lacombe (Highland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) and Tom Lee (Mt. Vernon, Ohio/Mt. Vernon) finished fifth (15:49.70) and seventh (15:58.59) respectively in the 5000-meter run while Eric Wittmer (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) Cedric Gamble (Boalsburg, Pa./State College) went two and three in the pole vault.

The relay team of Jeramie Parker (Middletown, Md./Middletown), Ben Eyer (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Central), Matt Brush (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach), and Andrew Mahone (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air) placed fourth in both the 4x800 relay (8:29.70) and the distance medley (10:44.96).

Ohio Wesleyan (88.50) took the team title while Wabash (85), Denison (49), Wooster (46), and Allegheny (46) rounded out the top five.

Allegheny returns to action on Friday and Saturday, February 8-9 at the Boston University Valentine Invite.
