CLEVELAND, Ohio – Allegheny College senior Emily Pfeufer (St. Mary’s, Pa./Elk County Catholic) and freshman Rebecca Lendyak (Cowansville, Pa./Ford City) were named North Coast Athletic Conference women’s indoor track and field athletes of the week for their performance at the Mary Phillips Invitational hosted by Fredonia State last weekend.
Pfeufer (pictured left), the conference’s field athlete of the week, captured first place in both the long jump (5.34m) and the triple jump (10.86m). Her distance in the long jump was just centimeters off of her own school record in the event.
Lendyak (pictured right) was named the conference’s athlete of the week in sprints and hurdles after claiming second place in a pair of events at Fredonia, the 55m dash (7.66) and the 200m dash (28.31). Her time in the 55m was just a tenth of a second off of breaking the Allegheny school record.
The Gators return to action on Friday, February 1 at the Case Western Reserve Invite in Cleveland, Ohio before traveling to Granville to compete in the NCAC Relays hosted by Denison University on Saturday.
