Gator Women Fall at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Senior Hilary Collins (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) totaled a season-high 13 points while junior Stephanie Wolf (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) turned in another all-around performance with 13 points, five assists, and four rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Gators (4-8, 1-2 NCAC) fell 82-51 at Wittenberg (3-5, 2-0 NCAC) on Friday night.

The Gators stayed close in the first half but were never able to grab a lead. Allegheny tied the score briefly at eight apiece when Collins buried a three-pointer with 16:48 left in the first half. The Tigers answered with a quick 4-0 run and took control from there out, eventually building a 43-28 halftime advantage. Allegheny was unable to rally in the second period, totaling only 23 points compared to 39 by the Tigers.

Wittenberg had four players score in double-figures led by Stephanie Boardman's game-high 14. Rachel Kohlruss led the way on the boards with 11 rebounds to go along with her 10 points.

Overall, Allegheny was out rebounded 48-32 and shot only .288 from the field while Wittenberg connected on 52% of their shots.

Allegheny gets a quick opportunity to rebound when it travels to Earlham on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
