MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny men’s soccer team had two members of its 2007 squad earn Division III All-Great Lakes Region honors. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Larkin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) landed on both the D3kicks.com team and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) squad while senior defenseman Eric Sloan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) picked up honors from D3kicks.
Larkin, who was tabbed a second team selection by D3kicks and a third team pick by the NSCAA, set the Allegheny single-season record with nine shutouts and recorded the second lowest goals against average (0.67) in school history during the 2007 campaign. He also set a new school career mark with 17 shutouts over the last two years.
Sloan, who earned second team honors from D3kicks, was also named the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2007 after helping the Gators post nine shutouts this fall. For his career, he earned All-NCAC honors in four consecutive years while being named to the first team in each of the last two seasons.
Allegheny finished the season with a 10-8-1 record and a 5-4 mark in conference play while reaching the NCAC Tournament Championship for a fourth consecutive season.
