Gators Tie Highest Ranking in School History
Oct 31, 2007 NEW YORK, N.Y. – Even though the fall season has passed, recognition is still rolling in for the Allegheny women’s golf team, as the squad earned the #9 spot in the most recent Golf World/NGCA Division III Coaches’ Poll, tying the team’s highest ranking in school history.
The Gators jumped a spot from 10th in last week’s poll, matching their ranking from the 2005-06 season when Allegheny finished ninth at Division III Nationals.
Freshman Kellie Gustas (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) led the way this fall, averaging 80.33 strokes with five top 10 finishes. Other top scorers include junior Jamie Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), averaging 82.56, junior Allison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South), averaging 83.00, and freshman Laura Hilger (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland), averaging 84.44.
Allegheny’s spring season begins on March 21 with a three-day event at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Tournament.
