Gators Fall in Four on Senior Day

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College Gators were unable to carry over the momentum from their solid loss to top ranked Wittenberg University, falling in four games to the Quakers of Earlham College on senior day at the David V. Wise Center.

The Gators came out firing in the first game, winning 31-33, but could not win the next three games, falling narrowly in each, 30-25, 30-23 and 30-28.

Leading the way statistically for the Gators was Annie Schultheis (Canton, Ohio/GlenOak) who had 18 kills and 14 digs, while Jenna Hackett (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) picked up 13 kills to go with three blocks. Amanda Bancroft (Centerville, Pa./Maplewood) continued her strong sophomore campaign with 45 assists, while Alyssa Edwards (League City, Texas/Clear Creek) totaled 36 digs, giving her 637 for the season, the fifth highest single season total in school history.

Adding to the defense for the Gators was Bancroft and Lisa Gleason (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) who had 12 and 10 digs, respectively, while Betsy LaPorte (Albany, Ohio/Alexander) had a team-high seven blocks.

The Gators look to rebound on Wednesday, October 24 when the team plays host to nationally ranked Hiram College starting at 7:00 p.m. at the David V. Wise Center.
