Gators Jump to 10th in Latest Poll
Oct 17, 2007 NEW YORK, N.Y. – Fresh off their fourth team victory of fall, the Allegheny women’s golf team earned a #10 national ranking in the latest Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association Division III poll released on Wednesday morning.
The Gators moved up one spot from their previous #11 ranking after winning four of five tournaments this fall and placing third at the highly competitive DePauw Invitational. Most recently, Allegheny finished first at the McDaniel Invitational by an impressive 117 strokes over the second-place finisher.
Freshman Kellie Gustas (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) earned her second individual title of the year, concluding a fall season in which she averaged 80.33 with five top 10 finishes. Other top scorers include junior Jamie Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), averaging 82.56, junior Allison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South), averaging 83.00, and freshman Laura Hilger (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland), averaging 84.44.
Allegheny’s spring season begins on March 21 with a three-day event at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Tournament.
