Gators Dominate First Day at McDaniel Invitational
Oct 14, 2007 HAMPSTEAD, Md. – The Allegheny College Gators placed all six of their golfers within the top eight overall, helping the squad to a 60-stroke lead at the MdDaniel College Invitational.
There were only two full teams to show up at the invitational, with the Gators dominating host McDaniel 345-to-405.
Leading the way for the Gators was Lauren Hilger (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) who shot an 82, tops in the field, with classmate Kellie Gustas (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) sitting a stroke behind in second place. Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) is tied for fourth overall with a first-round score of 86, while Kristie Archer (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) and Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) are tied for sixth place, each with an 88. Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) was the final Allegheny finisher, carding a first-round score of 90, good for eighth place overall.
The Gators look to continue their strong play into the second day of the invitational tomorrow morning.
