
Gator Women Ranked 11th in Division III
Oct 3, 2007 NEW YORK, N.Y. – The second Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) poll of the fall season was released Wednesday morning with the Allegheny women’s golf team earning a #11 national ranking in all of Division III.
The Gators are off to a hot start in 2007, taking first place at the William Smith Invitational in mid-September before placing third at the highly competitive DePauw Classic during the weekend of September 23.
Freshman Kellie Gustas (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) has been Allegheny’s top scorer with an average of 80.25 this season with Allison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) and Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) ranking second and third with respective averages of 84.5 and 85.5.
Allegheny was the only program aside from #1 ranked Methodist to receive a first place vote in the polls. The Gators have been a fixture in the national rankings over the past two seasons, finishing the 2006 season ranked ninth and the 2007 season ranked 11th.
The Blue and Gold returns to action this weekend at the Gannon Invitational on Sunday and Monday, October 7-8 before returning home to host the Allegheny Invitational on Tuesday.
