Salopek Earn NCAC Player of the Week Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – After leading the Allegheny football team (3-1, 1-0 NCAC) to their third consecutive victory on Saturday, sophomore quarterback T. J. Salopek (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced the league office on Tuesday.
Salopek served as a dual threat in the Gators’ 14-0 win over Denison, completing 18-of-30 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown while also leading the team with 68 rushing yards and a score. On the season, Salopek has completed 58% of his passes for 577 yards and four touchdowns since taking over the starting quarterback duties in the second half of week one’s contest.
The Gators return to action with a showdown against 2006 Co-NCAC Champion Wabash (4-0, 2-0 NCAC) during Allegheny Homecoming at Frank B. Fuhrer Field on Saturday, October 6. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
