MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Gators used a goal just 38 seconds into the game before holding on to a 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon against the Earlham College Quakers.

The Gators wasted no time getting on the board, as Jim Beyer (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) scored following an Eric Sloan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) free-kick just 38 seconds into the contest.

The rest of game turned into a physical defensive battle, as the two teams combined for no goals, 29 fouls and a trio of yellow cards.

Senior Ryan Larkin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) picked up the shutout victory, as none of the four shots by Earlham were on goal, while his counterpart, Kyle Thompson, picked up three saves while giving up the solitary goal.

The Gators take back to the pitch in a week, as they host perennial powerhouse Ohio Wesleyan University on homecoming for the Gators, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. at Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
