MEADVILLE, Pa. – Allegheny College junior linebacker Craig Lawrence (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) has been named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week following his performance last Saturday against the Tartans of Carnegie Mellon University.
The junior had his hand in three separate turnovers, recovering two fumbles and forcing another, while adding seven tackles (three solo) and two quarterback sacks, helping the squad to the 24-21 victory. He was also named the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his effort.
Lawrence is currently the team’s leader in sacks with 3.5 and fumble recoveries with three, and is second on the team with 4.5 tackles for loss. He is the main factor to the team’s 11 sacks this season, eclipsing last years’ total of 10 in just the third game of the 2007 season.
The Gators take to the gridiron on Saturday, September 29, Community Day at the College as there will be no admission charged for the game against the Denison University Big Red.
