Gators Fall at Oberlin
September 25, 2007
OBERLIN, Ohio - The Allegheny men's soccer team (6-4, 1-1 NCAC) came up just short of conference foe Oberlin (6-2-2, 1-0 NCAC), falling 1-0 on Tuesday evening, snapping the Gators' three-game win streak.
The game's only goal came just 2:45 into the contest when Oberlin's Zach Lewis scored off a David Lowe assist. Allegheny threatened several times throughout the game, but could not cash in, having two goals called back due to an offsides call and a penalty.
Ryan Larkin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded three saves, but saw his streak of three straight shutouts come to an end.
Oberlin came into the contest ranked eighth in the Division III Great Lakes Region according to the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) regional rankings.
The Gators return to action on Saturday with a home contest versus Earlham. Kick-off is set for 10:00 a.m. and will open a day's worth of events at Allegheny College's Community Day.
