Lawrence Earns NCAC Player-of-the-Week Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Allegheny junior linebacker Craig Lawrence (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week for his performance in the Gators’ 24-21 victory at Carnegie Mellon this past Saturday.

Lawrence turned in an all-around performance, recording seven tackles, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and two sacks, helping lead the Gators to their second consecutive victory in 2007.

On the season, he is the team leader in both sacks (3.5) and fumble recoveries (3) and is second on the squad with 4.5 tackles for loss.

Allegheny (2-1) opens up conference play this Saturday when it hosts Denison (1-2). Kick-off from Frank B. Fuhrer Field in Meadville, Pa. is set for 2:00 p.m.
