Gators Fall In Overtime

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - Despite leading until the 88th minute of the contest, the Allegheny College men's soccer team (2-3) could not seal the deal, as the Gators fell by a score of 2-1 in overtime at John Carroll University (3-3) on Wednesday, September 12.

After a scoreless first half, Allegheny struck just six minutes into the second stanza when freshman Ryan Fetterolf (Sewickly, Pa./Quaker Valley) scored his first career goal as a Gator. The lead stood until the 88th minte, when John Carroll's Mike Pinter scored off of an Alex Bernot corner kick, sending the game to overtime.

In the extra period, Bernot hooked up with another teammate, Louis Kastelic, for the game-winning goal at the 95:13 mark of the contest.

Ryan Larkin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded nine saves in net for the Gators while Matt DeMarchi picked up five for the Blue Streaks.

John Carroll outshot the Gators 22-8 and held an 11-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Gators continue their road swing through the Ohio Athletic Conference when they battle Mount Union on Saturday, September 15 with the start time set for 11 a.m. in Alliance, Ohio.
