Scott To Compete In Pan Am Games
July 27, 2007
Jeremy Scott is set to become the second former Allegheny College student-athlete to compete in the Pan American games. Scott, a 2003 graduate of Allegheny, will compete in the pole vault at the 2007 version of the games in Rio de Jeniro, Brazil, on Saturday, July 28.
Scott earned a spot in the games by virtue of his sixth place showing at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 22. Scott also earned a spot on the North American, Central American, and Caribbean (NCAC) U.S. team, marking the fourth national squad that he has qualified to compete with. His first U.S. team came during his junior season when he won the international meet for the NACAC team.
Scott was a four-time pole vaulting All-American with Allegheny and holds the indoor and outdoor school records for both pole vault and high jump. He joins Jennifer Colgrove-Martin, who competed in the marathon in 1995, earning the silver medal.
The event will take place at 3:30 EST from Rio, and coverage can be seen on ESPNU as well as ESPN Deportes.
