Gators Take Top Spot After First Day May 3, 2007 NCAC Championships Day 1 Results DELAWARE, Ohio – After falling during the indoor league title, the Allegheny College took steps to avenge the loss, and lead the North Coast Athletic Conference championships by 19 points. Allegheny totaled 75 points over the first day, while indoor champion Ohio Wesleyan sits in second place with 56 points. Wooster (33.5), Oberlin (29) and Denison (22.5) round out the top five in the meet. Liz Earley (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) took first in the shot put with a toss of 41-3.75, just off of the NCAA Division III provisional mark. Sophia Braden () took second with a toss of 37-6 and teammate Kristen Angelo (Hubbard, Ohio/Hubbard) placed fourth with a distance of 35-6.75. Earley and Angelo followed by placing second and third in the shot put, the former with a toss of 122-8 and the latter 117-5. Emily Pfeufer (St. Mary’s, Pa./Elk County Catholic), the runner up in the heptathlon, won the long jump with a leap of 17-8.25, nearly eight inches further than second place. Michelle Corkum (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) was the runner-up in the 10,000-meter run, with the senior completing the 6.1 miles in a time of 39:36.44. Sarah Powers (Bexley, Ohio/Columbus School for Girls) placed seventh in the event with a time of 41:35.71, giving the Gators an additional two points.
