Box Score

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Allegheny College Gators fell to a strong Geneseo State squad on Thursday afternoon by a 22-8 final score. Michelle Dudevoir (West Point, N.Y./O’Neal) led the Gators with three goals, while the other five goals were scored by five different players.

The Gators took off strong in the game, scoring the first two goals as Dudevoir and Ashley Hughes (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) connected on back-to-back shots, before the Blue Knights scored two in a row to knot the game. Dudevoir’s second goal and Meg Grossman’s (Lexington, Ky./Sayre School) first goal sandwiched a Geneseo goal, giving the Gators a 4-3 lead. The Geneseo offense then hit their stride, scoring eight goals in the remaining portions of the first half, while the Gators were able to tally just two in the same span, sending the Blue Knights into the locker room with a 11-6 halftime lead.

A Geneseo goal was countered by Dudevoir’s third goal of the game, cutting the deficit to 12-7 before the hosts scored six consecutive goals to put the game out of reach. Katie DaRin ended the Blue Knight streak, before Geneseo added four goals to give the game its 22-8 final score.

Hughes led the team with two assists, while Rachel Coons (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) picked up seven groundballs from her goalie position for the team lead. Jenna Balogh (Richfield, Ohio/Rever) and Katie Murphy (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) each had two groundballs, with the former causing two turnovers.

The loss drops the Gators to 2-8 on the season, as the team will play host to the Yeowomen of Oberlin College on Saturday, April 21.
