Place Picks Up Athlete of the Week Honors

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Allegheny College junior Ryan Place (Meshoppen, Pa./Elk Lake) added to a budding resume by earning North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors following his performance at the Carnegie Mellon Tri-Meet on April 3.

Place, who earned multiple accolades during the 2006 cross country season, was dominant for the Gators in the distance events at Carnegie Mellon, leading the squad in both the 1,500 and 3,000 meter races. He was the top Allegheny runner in the 1,500, cruising the track in 4:00.23 to finish third overall. The Gator junior was even better in the 3,000, leading a trio of teammates in the top five of the race with a time of 8:53.94.

Allegheny continues its season this weekend with the Bucknell Distance Carnival on April 13 and the Slippery Rock Invitational on April 14.
