Korotkin Named Pitcher of the Week
Apr 10, 2007
MEADVILLE, Pa. – Freshman pitcher Allison Korotkin (Birmingham, Mich./Detroit Country Day) was recently tabbed North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week by the league office after helping the Allegheny College softball team complete a doubleheader sweep of Oberlin College last week.
On April 3, Korotkin and the Gators swept right by Oberlin College in the first league action of the 2007 season for both teams. The Gator first-year pitched the nightcap, hurling five shutout innings to earn her second victory this spring. She allowed only four hits, all singles, while tying her season high with four strikeouts.
Korotkin has posted wins in two of her first three starts, logging 25.1 innings on the mound. She owns an earned run average of 3.59 and has fanned 20 batters this season.
Allegheny resumes its conference slate on Wednesday, April 11, with a home doubleheader at Robertson Field against The College of Wooster (8-14, 1-1 NCAC) beginning at 3:30 p.m.
