Women’s Golf Slides into 7th at Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The Allegheny College women’s golf team put up a second-round total of 344 at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Class, moving into a tie for seventh with Amherst College with a two-day total of 694.

Sophomores Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) and Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) paced the Gator starters with identical rounds of 80, improving four and seven strokes from yesterday’s totals.

The remaining three Allegheny competitors also dropped their scores from yesterday’s opening round. After posting an 88 on day one, junior Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) improved to an 84. Lauren Torso (Zelienople. Pa./Seneca Valley) lowered her score by one stroke with a 90 on Saturday, while first-year Kim Elam (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) tied Reints for the biggest improvement over the two days, dropping seven strokes to a 90.

Allegheny concludes its season-opening spring tournament on Sunday, March 25.
