Allegheny Drops Spring Game against PSU
Mar 20, 2007 Box Score
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Allegheny College women’s lacrosse team grabbed an early 1-0 lead in its non-conference bout with Plymouth State University, but the Gators couldn’t make it stick, falling behind 8-1 at the half and eventually dropping its second consecutive game to start the 2007 season by an 18-4 score.
Allegheny (0-2) jumped ahead first on a goal by senior Michelle Dudevoir (West Point, N.Y./O’Neill) and held the lead for the first 15 minutes of the opening half. That’s when Plymouth State (1-1) erupted for a huge run, reeling off eight straight scores to take an 8-1 advantage into the locker room.
The Gators didn’t find the firepower to get back into it in the final frame, despite Lana Cannon’s (Peaks Island, Maine/Portland) first goal of the year and a pair of scores by first-year Christina Zanic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair), giving her three total this spring.
Junior Lesley Stange (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) picked up the loss, allowing 13 goals and making six saves, while freshman Rachael Coons (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) made one save and allowed five scores in her time between the pipes.
Allegheny will aim to right the ship in West Palm Beach, Fla., against Frostburg State tomorrow (March 21) at 9 a.m.
