Kestler Named D3hoops.com All-Region

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Allegheny College senior Katie Kestler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Third Team, announced late Tuesday evening. Kestler is the first All-Region performer for the Gators since the 2001-02 season when Jessica Kankoski earned second team All-Great Lakes Region.

Kestler, who was named first team All-League, joins Kristen Sheffield of Denison on the third team, as the pair are the only representatives from the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Players were nominated for the awards by each school’s Sports Information Directors, who then were also given the opportunity to vote for the different teams.

Kestler ended her four-year playing career as the most distinguished three-point shooter in school history. She owns school records for single game three-pointers made (7 vs. Oberlin in 2004-05), single season three-pointers made (70 in 2006-07) and career three-pointers made (187). As a senior, Kestler smashed her previous career highs in nearly every statistical category including field goals made, field goals attempted, field goal percentage, three-pointers made, three-pointers attempted, three-point percentage, free throws made, free throws attempted, rebounds, assists, steals and points. She ended her career with 816 points, hitting 187-of-527 from three-point range (35.5 percent).
