Gators Tune-Up for Championships Feb 25, 2007 Oberlin Results OBERLIN, Ohio – The Allegheny College Gators went to the track at Oberlin to tune-up for the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, to be held on Friday March 2 and Saturday March 3 in Granville, Ohio. Matt Yurky (Homer City, Pa./Homer-Center) took first place in the triple jump, while also winning the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.18. Alex Gorski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) took third overall in the 400-meter dash, finishing the two-lap race in a time of 53.75, with Yurky finishing close behind in a time of 53.75, good for fourth overall. Allegheny also had a contingent of throwers compete at the Mount Union Invitational on February 23. In the weight throw, Devin Cruea (Geneva, Ohio/Genva) finished fourth with a toss of 48 feet, 2.75 inches, while Pat Confer (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) managed a sixth-place throw of 42 feet, nine inches. In the shot put, all three competitors posted season-best throws, led by Frank Tupta's (University Heights, Ohio/Hawken) fifth-place heave of 49 feet, 4.25 inches. Cruea and Confer each tied for eighth in the deep field with identical efforts of 45 feet, 1.5 inches. The league championships will start on Friday, March 2 and will conclude a day later on March 3.
