Pfeufer, Smith Named co-NCAC POW

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Junior Emily Pfeufer (St. Marys, Pa./Elk County Catholic) and freshman Hannah Smith (Rice Lake, Wis./Rice Lake) were named co-North Coast Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week by the league office following a record-shattering performance at the NCAC Relays on Jan. 27.

Pfeufer and Smith set a new standard as a triple jump tandem at the relay meet, posting a mark of 69 feet, 1.25 inches to grab the top spot as a team by over two feet. Pfeufer also walked away with individual honors in the event with a total distance of 36 feet, 0.5 inches, while Smith placed fourth after managing a leap of 33 feet, 0.75 inches.

Pfeufer added another notch to her belt with a season-best leap of 17 feet, 0.5 inches to grab first-place overall in the long jump at the same meet. Smith, meanwhile, went for a career-best time of 9.18 in the 55-meter hurdles, taking home runner-up honors.

The Gators continue their indoor season at the Case Western Reserve Invitational on Friday, Feb. 2.
