McMahon leaped to a distance of 46-7.75, a new NCAC Relay record and an NCAA Division III Championships provisional mark. The Gators took third place overall with 60 points, behind Wabash (78) and Ohio Wesleyan (68.50). Denison (59), Wooster (53.50) and Kenyon (48) all finished behind the Blue and Gold. Three Gators picked up first place finishes, McMahon, Ben Mourer (Chicora, Pa./Karns City) in the 5,000-meter run and Frank Tupta (University Heights, Ohio/Hawken) in the shot put. Mourer took first in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:36.87, a season best for the senior, as Tupta won the shot put by 8.25 inches with a toss of 46-11.25. Teammate Pat Confer (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) took fourth in the event with a toss of 44-10. Sophomore pole vaulters Erich Wittmer (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Peter Sotherland (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central) teamed to place second and third, respectively, clearing heights of 13-6 and 13-0, each. McMahon added a second place finish to his repertoire, as he leaped to a distance of 20-10.5 in the long jump. The Allegheny 4x200-meter relay team of Josh Brannan (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe), Jeremy Walker (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield), Marcus Solomon (Rockwell, Texas/Dallas Christian) and Chas Moore-Seymore (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Francis) teamed to finish second in a time of 1:35.93, less than a half a second from the top finishing Wabash squad. The sprint medley team took third overall in a time of 3:51.03, with team members Seymore, Solomon, Wittmer and Alex Gorski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon). A day earlier, senior Devin Cruea (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) competed at the Penn State National Invitational, where he placed 12th overall with a toss of 53-0.25. The Gators next take to the track on February 2 when they will travel to the Case Western Reserve Invitational in Cleveland, Ohio.
